To follow up on some of the stuff I said in my previous post in this group, here's a little something on what's happening with OpenSearch that is of relevance to us:
The chaps in CrossRef Labs have created an OpenSearch-enabled service for querying publication metadata: http://labs.crossref.org/site/opensearch.html
And Nature has also exposed their site-wide search on nature.com as an OpenSearch service document:
http://blogs.nature.com/wp/nascent/2009/10/naturecom_opensearch.html
As I've argued before, OpenSearch has potential for us as a "lightweight" distributed search protocol for querying across genomics databases, LSDBs and other resources in a unified via, e.g. via the GEN2PHEN portal.
