WAVe | Web Analysis of the Variome

Hi everyone! We have just launched WAVe: http://bioinformatics.ua.pt/WAVe/ !

I know this is not exactly semantic web related, but I believe it is the beginning of something in this matter. In any case, it is an initial attempt to kick-off the development of a semantically-rich application based on traditional (and friendly) interaction metaphors.

WAVe is a basic locus-specific database integration tool, focused on presenting not only the original integrated LSDBs as well as a set of gene-related websites that we have considered as significantly relevant for anyone researching in this particular topic. Moreover, variants available in integrated LSDBs are also listed.

WAVe is available for testing at http://bioinformatics.ua.pt/WAVe/ . Furthermore, you can access directly to a gene page by adding its HGNC symbol: for instance, BRCA2 page is at http://bioinformatics.ua.pt/WAVe/gene/BRCA2 .

I would highly appreciate that all of you took some of your time (or someone else's time) to take a quick look at the application and to give me some comments/suggestions/opinions/critics. Anything you think will be helpful in enhancing future versions of this application which is still in its early stages.

You can post comments in this section or send me an e-mail to pedrolopes@ua.pt! Thank you!
