Researcher Identification
- Are you weary of inaccurate literature searches for author names, or of being mixed up with authors with the same or similar name? Or simply interested in the author naming issue because it's an unsolved problem?
- Would you like to access sensitive biomedical data from multiple sources, but feel intimidated by the amount of paperwork involved and wish the process were smoother?
- Would you like to be credited for your database submissions or curation work?
If the answers to some or all of these questions is yes, you are invited to join this community group of people who are interested in applications for a user-centric identification systems for researchers, and the broader topic of 'scholarly identity' on the Internet.

History
This group was originally created in early 2009, as part of a GEN2PHEN-sponsored work to explore issues around researcher identification in sharing of data from genotype-wide association studies. A whitepaper was put together and and circulated via E-mail in February-March '09, late expanded into a series of series of short essay highlighting various aspects of the identification problem and related opportunities, as well as suggesting possible solutions based on Internet technologies such as OpenID. This was followed by the IRBW2009 workshop in Toronto (see also executive summary).
